Job Description

The Assembly, Finish and Add-on department is a part of the blade module in Vestas and is accountable for all processes, CATIA 3D models and drawings within blade assembly, paint, finish and add-ons for all on- and offshore blades. Furthermore, the department is involved in new blade technology projects and is supporting internal and external blades manufacturing factories. The team consists of around +30 enthusiastic team members located in Lem (Denmark), Isle of Wight (UK), Chennai (India) and Porto (Portugal), where approximately 10 team members focus on CATIA models and drawings.
Our role is to design blade components in a way that ensures easy, repeatable, and robust manufacturing for our production units to deliver the highest quality and at the same time being cost effective. We are accountable for delivering and maintaining the processes around blade assembly, paint, finish and add-ons. This includes among other things intensive work with PFMEA, process validations, manufacturing requirement specifications, as well as CATIA models and drawings. Our job is to provide clear, unambiguous communication of the design and process intent to our manufacturing colleagues and empowering them to optimize their manufacturing process and tools within the given constraints. We are a team of ‘Do’ers’ that make things happen, but at the same time ensure the highest quality within our blade manufacturing processes. As member of this department, you will quickly see the results of your endeavors, as within months they materialize in products and components being manufactured within our global manufacturing footprint.

Responsibilities:-

  • Your main responsibility will be to create 3D CATIA models, drawings, laser files for production, but also perform various early design analysis to support the blade build process afterwards
  • You will be part of new blade projects and closely collaborate with other team members on hour deliveries, but also have interaction with other departments across Vestas, such as blade structures, protective functions (lightning and de-icing system), blade materials, shell and web manufacturing, blade tools, blade factories, etc
  • Ensure that 3D CATIA models, drawings, laser files, blade process analysis, etc. are conducted to the highest quality and to the agreed timelines
  • Ensure alignment with process engineers to enable best possible design prior to the blade build start
  • Improve engineering changes through our Change Management system(Understanding of Problem Report (PR), Change Request (CR) and Creation of Change Notice(CN)) for both new blades projects, but also ensure maintenance of existing blades in production
  • Ensure correct Bills of Materials (BoM) added as per requirement defined in the design

Qualifications And Experience:-

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aeronautical or Production engineering or Similar
  • Minimum 5 years of proven CATIA experience, from blade or composite manufacturing companies will be an added advantage
  • Should have knowledge or practical experience within one of the following areas: blade design, blade manufacturing processes or composite materials
  • Should have experience in using Windchill
  • Should possess good communication skills in English, both oral and written
