Assistant Lead Engineer – Bearing / Aux drive components

The Vestas Power Solution business unit brings the technology development of our wind turbine products. We are responsible for its development, verification, and industrialization. It is here that we lay the technological foundation for staying ahead as the global leader within sustainable energy. The Powertrain Module area in Aerodynamic & Mechanical department, which is accountable for the Powertrain System converting the mechanical energy from the wind into electrical energy. The Powertrain System consists of main components such as the main gearbox, generator, main shaft bearings, lubrication system, and auxiliary components such as brake, coupling, and suspension/damper system.
In the Powertrain Quality Sub Module, we support Warranty cases of Bearing, gearbox, torque arm, coupling, shrink disc, Generator components. This team also has the responsibility of reducing lost production factor (LPF) related to Alarm, Warranty, Design failures of PTR Components.

Responsibilities:-

• Ensuring the technical progress of our CIM (Warranty) projects, LPF cases
• Collaboration with PM and technical experts (Functional Leads) in identifying RCA
• Work on design improvement solution, coordination with adjacent components for sign-off
• Work on closed-loop quality & lessons learned together with the development team
• Coordinate the technical solution within the quality, time, and cost targets of the project
• Prioritize the technical team’s tasks based on the calculated impact to project targets
• Identify & mitigate technical risks within the project scope & secure technical administration
• Provide feedback & question solutions to optimize product design, participate in design reviews & supervise RCA / failure cases

Qualifications And Experiences:-

• Bachelor’s / Master’s in Mechanical / similar engineering
• 5+ years of experience, desirable with bearing, gearbox, lubrication, the casting of main bearing housing, rotor lock
• Product development experience
• Specific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial
• Knowledge in 3D CAD system, desirable CREO Parametric
• Effective verbal and written communication with English as the primary working language

Competencies:-

• Oil debris Monitoring
• Oil leakage – Seal solution
• experience in resolving Bearing failure cases
• Lubrication, Grease tray design experience
• Knowledge of drivetrain components like torque arm, shrink disc, coupling
• Understanding of Field issues/ failures
• Knowledge on Close loop Quality
