Job Description

The component design team develops all the building blocks for blade designs: Blade shell constructions, adhesive joints, turbine interface, aero add on’s etc. Majority of the blades is composite materials, but steel, polymer and other material types are also part of the design.

In this role there are two distinct elements:
Working as hands-on experienced engineer within designated component area. You will be working on tasks and projects owning the components through the project span: from identification of need for a new component, through ideation, validation, implementation, and optimization. You will execute specific developments and be responsible for the component design delivered to the customer. You will involve relevant departments: process, testing, materials to secure the outcome in the form of validated building blocks.
Develop skills and competences across all relevant component areas in APAC region. Support employees in reaching the goals defined by their respective component leader.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Provide solutions to specific technical and business problems through component design.
  • Plan and scope new component developments according to needs and wants from customers and/or horizontals.
  • In collaboration with other vertical functions agree on scope and approaches to solve technical challenges within the components e.g. material, design, process path or a combination hereof.
  • Execute on agreed projects and deliver to quality, cost and timeline.
  • Specify components and design rules in design specifications according to established procedures.

Qualifications And Experience:-

  • A higher degree in a mechanical engineering, ph.d. level is an advantage.
  • Highly skilled in mechanical design of composite components
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with finite element analysis and fracture mechanics is expected.
  • Experienced with composite prototype building.
  • Knowledge of wind turbine blade design and manufacture
  • Several years of experience in design of wind turbine blades or other structural component consisting of composite materials.
  • A good communicator that can explain complex technical matters to executive leaders
  • Inclusive leadership style (Technical lead as mentor / reviewer of work of other team members, handled diverse views (conflict) to technical solutions) that can lead an international team spread across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated experience to build Technical competence in the team and support to management
  • Strong English language skill (verbal and writing)
