Advanced Control Engineer- FY23

This position is responsible for supporting Ovation Advanced Application group in engineering OAA modules. This position may also require travel to front office as well as customer sites.

The candidate will be an essential member of a team-oriented Ovation Advanced Application Group with responsibilities for software design/implementation and test functions. Responsibilities will include providing support in the development and testing of OAA modules. Candidate shall be hardworking, self-motivated and possess effective skills for communicating with internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-

• Understand existing control systems for gas and thermal power plant, implement and test new plant operation sequences and optimization of process parameter control.
  • Development of Ovation Graphics from P&IDs / Customer provided graphics / Narratives
  • Creation / modification of Ovation Internal Point Database
  • Testing of implemented graphics & troubleshooting while testing
  • Creation / modification of Ovation Internal Point Database
  • Implementation of Simulation logics for First-Pass / Process Test

• Manage project requirements, schedule, and execution through delivery
• Interfacing with the engineering teams to maintain control strategy standards
• Provide project status updates to project teams and management
  • Follow Department Quality processes and procedures
  • Support Customer Design Review and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) activities
  • Support Site Commissioning activities remotely/Onsite.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office, Word and Excel etc.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:-

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation/Mechanical/Power Engineering
• Minimum experience of 3 years on Ovation platform

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:-

• Operational/control familiarity or direct experience with Thermal Power plants – Coal/Gas boilers and/or combined cycle.
• Understanding the thermodynamics and fundamental of the key power plant subsystems and their interactions.
• Ovation platform/tools experience (controls and Graphics)
• Experience with designing and implementing control system configuration changes
• Control loop tuning on running power plants, experience with key controls concepts like PID tuning, feedforward, basic system identification from process trends.
• Experience with base level or simple tie-back modeling to build process models for validation of controls before applications are installed at site

Advanced Control:-

• Understanding or experience with concepts like model predictive control, multivariable control, fuzzy control.

Data Analytics:-

• Experience with processing and analyzing plant performance and control loop data to provide statistical process control KPIs. – Standard deviation, Process capability,
• Regression analysis for curve fitting and other numerical processing techniques.
• Experience with designing and implementing control system configuration changes.
• Ability and willingness to travel as may be required
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
