The Government of India approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission in the month Jan. 2023 with the initial outlay of Rs.19,744 crore, including an outlay of Rs.17,490 crore for the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) programme, Rs.1,466 crore for pilot projects, Rs.400 crore for R&D, and Rs. 388 crore towards other Mission components.

In a step towards this Mission the government will soon  issue guidelines and also issue  tender for incentives by the first half of the next financial year, as per media reports.

A draft of  the incentive schemes is under preparation and consultation would also begin soon.

The government wants to issue the guidelines and tender at the earliest and with complete clarity to enable companies to plan efficiently to  produce green hydrogen. 3.Generating over Six lakh jobs.

4.Cumulative reduction in fossil fuel imports over Rs. One lakh crore.

5.Mitigation of nearly 50 MMT of annual greenhouse gas emission.
