JinkoSolar Delivers Strong Shipping Numbers for 2020 In India

Leading global module manufacturer JinkoSolar, claims to have been the market leader in India in 2020 with a market share of 22% . In terms of actual volumes, the firm confirms shipping almost 1200 MW+ by the end of 2020. In addition to this, JinkoSolar says it has also been recognized as the top supplier to India in last quarter (Q4) with a 650 MW shipment number across all segments. The firm also cites Globalwits, a trade intelligence firm  to support these numbers

The impressive India numbers come on the back of a record global shipment number of 70 GW+ installation across the globe.Jinko, which has been present in India for some time now, has a strong customer mix between major IPPs, C&I Developers, EPCs and Rooftop players. They have made a strong push to penetrate in the distribution segment as well with the Tiger and Tiger Pro Series modules which have been proven performers in the utility segment.

Jinko’s gains in India also augur well for the country’s much needed shift from poly to mono modules. With most leading global manufacturers  ceasing, or close to ceasing  production of poly modules, it is important for India to shift to the more efficient mono modules too. Jinko has been pitching the latest bifacial technology in recent times, again, well ahead of market adoption. The country has just started seeing its earliest utility sale bifacial module projects now. Jinko counts top developers ranging from  Azure Power, Fortum, ReNew Power, Mahindra Susten, CleanTech, Hinduja Group, KEC International among others in 2020 that helped it reach its annual shipment number of 1.2 GW+ to India only.

The India numbers are impressive, when seen in the context of the Covid pandemic, raw material price rise and shortage, high freight charges, etc. The firm clearly sees this as a key market, with high hopes to see future growth too. In recent months, the firm has also been building a strong case for its larger output and size modules,in size 182 mm.

Globally, Jinko is well spread out, with 9 productions facilities globally, 21 overseas subsidiaries.
