RaysExperts adds 30 MW capacity to its Solar Parks, situated at Kolayat in Bikaner

Around 99% of solar EPC companies in India have a total individual portfolio of less than 30 MW, however, Rays Experts, in a rare feat of sorts, achieved in just 3 months.

RaysExperts has successfully commissioned projects that contributed an addition of 30 MW to Rays Solar Parks, situated at Kolayat in Bikaner. According to the company around 99% of solar EPC companies in India have a total individual portfolio of less than 30 MW, however, Rays Experts, in a rare feat of sorts, achieved in just 3 months.

All the projects in this 30 MW capacity were commissioned before 31 March 2017, which enabled the project developers to reap maximum accelerated depreciation benefits and 100% tax benefit in the first year itself. Furthermore, these solar power plants will eventually replace more than 1200 Million coal based electricity units with clean and green electricity in its lifetime.

Speaking of the challenges faced in achieving this incredible milestone, Rahul Gupta, CEO, Rays Experts, said. “This indeed marks a watershed moment for all of us here at Rays. Achieving such a number in such a short period of time testifies our stupendous effort and commitment, coupled with ace innovation and quick development at the backend. In terms of challenges that we were able to overcome, pertained to the scarcity of skilled labour in such a remote area, heavy dust storms, sandy and loose soil land surface, lack of internet and other basic amenities. We believe this will restore the falling confidence regarding solar amongst customers.”

The capacity is formed by aggregating multiple owners across the country. A leading hotel chain, a leading newspaper publication, a leading chemicals company and a leading textile manufacturing unit are among the few to name. The plant is located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, an area that is among the highest solar radiation zones in India. The global horizontal irradiance (GHI) is 5.8 kWh/day.
