Gujarat Government to Kick Off Rooftop Solar Power Scheme

The rooftop solar power scheme is aimed at combating the climate change issues and encouraging production of green energy.

The state government of Gujarat has received over 15,000 applications under the rooftop solar power scheme which will be kicked off by chief minister Vijay Rupani at a function in Vadodara. About 300 students of class IX and XII will also be given battery-operated vehicles.

The project is aimed at combating the climate change issues and encouraging production of green energy. At a programme organized by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), the department of climate change will hand over cheques of aid to the beneficiaries of the solar rooftop scheme.

As part of the scheme, the central government provides an aid of Rs 20,700 per kilowatt to an individual. In order to encourage participation, the state government will also provide an additional aid of Rs 10,000.
