Nepal Govt. Drives Young Minds to Foster Alternative Energy Technologies

The Nepal Govt. Minister of Science and Technologies Shiv Lal Thapa Magar asserted on meeting the energy emergency in the nation, to make the initiative a success he wants young researchers to usher alternative energy technologies. He made this decisive pronouncement at a National-Level Stakeholder’s meeting in the Capital recently.

The Govt. agencies and concerned development associates working in renewable and alternative energy technologies should come up with solutions that are feasible and easily accessible to general public to mitigate the energy crisis in the country, Magar added.

The meeting was a part of the undertaking entitled “Feasibility Study of the Most Appropriate Alternative Energy Technologies in Diversified Ecological Zones of Nepal” being implemented by the National Academy of Science and Technology (Nast) and Chonbuk National University with the funding from Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica).

Magar additionally asked Nast to work on development and exploration to advance the utilization of different alternative and renewable energy technologies that could get advantage in domestic and business segment.

“The promotion of solar and wind energy could play an important role in helping people facing acute energy crisis in their day-to-day life,” Magar included.

Nast Vice-chancellor Jiba Raj Pokharel expressed his concern over the young scientists and researchers of lacking suitable workplaces in the country.

“We can work effectively in research and development activities on renewable and alternative energy sector if the government mobilizes adequate and timely funding in science and technology sector,” Pokharel said.
