Meyer Burger Secures an Upgrade Order for MB PERC Cell Tool Maia 2.1 from Existing Customer

Delivery and commissioning of the PERC cell tool is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of this year.

The Switzerland based leading solar PV tooling equipment supplier has secured an upgrade order on its MB PERC cell tool, the MAiA 2.1. The PERC cell upgrade order estimates to CHF 15 million ($15 million) and has been placed by an existing customer in Asia.

The delivery and commissioning for the upgrade for MAiA 2.1 upgrade cell coating platform for PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Contact) cell technology has been scheduled for the second quarter of this year.

Meyer Burger so far has secured orders estimated to more than $100 million for PERC tooling technology. According to the forecast from Energy Trend, a Taiwan-based analyst, the PERC capacity expansions is expected to increase in 2017 between 12 GW to 15 GW.
